Born in Geraldton, Western Australia and raised across six towns before the age of 18. Hemmingson adopted an insider-outsider perspective on representation and belonging. This presents itself in long term projects rooted in specific locales, where a devotion of years are dedicated to each project. This approach fosters uncovers the intricate dynamics and competing histories that shape each place.
Graduating from Massey University (Wellington, New Zealand) in 2024 with first class honours in photography. Hemmingson currently takes residence in Liverpool, England. It is here where he continues this investigate practice , extending his inquiry into post industrial communities and the gap between outsider perception and lived reality.
